Brother aims for another double digit growth with Dataprep

March 8, 2006

Printing, communications and digital devices manufacturer, Brother International (M) Sdn Bhd is confident of maintaining a double digit growth this year after its revenue reached RM1 billion in 2005.

Its managing director, Tomosaburo Tsuji, said the company posted an over 20% surge in revenue last year.

He said it would focus on making an impact in the corporate market this year, which contributed between 10% and 15% of sales revenue last year, with the intention of doubling that this year.

Tsuji was speaking to reporters in Petaling Jaya on March 8 after the signing of a partnership agreement with Solsis (M) Sdn Bhd for the latter to provide support services to Brother's customers nationwide.

"We have a service centre to meet high demands in the Klang Valley. But we want to move strongly into all of Malaysia, especially major market centres such as Johor Bahru, Penang and Ipoh."

"This is where our service partnership with Solsis plays an important part," Tsuji said.

Brother, a subsidiary of Japan-based Brother International Ltd, makes laser printers, laser and inkjet multifunction devices, fax machines, electronic labelers and typewriters.

Tsuji said the company would market its laser printers to the corporate market and its inkjet printers to its consumer segment.

He said its customers would now be able to get support services at its service centres in Petaling Jaya and Kuching as well as 23 of Solsis’ centres nationwide.

Solsis, a subsidiary of Dataprep Holdings Bhd, would provide Brother's customers with a turnaround time of 48 hours for repairs, unless parts need to ordered from overseas.

Tsuji said Solsis’ service staff had also been trained for a month to obtain a better understanding of the intricacies of Brother's products.
