Dataprep VoicesOur fellow selected Datapreneurs was given the opportunity to attend the Michigan Business School Executive Development Program in Hong Kong. These are some of their excerpts from their recent trip. Stephen TanI had a positive and enriching experience from my training stint in Hong Kong. I had the opportunity to exchange ideas with my fellow participants from diverse background. The training gave me the proper winning formula in applying the principles of leadership, time management and delegation to my current work environment. I was intrigued by one of the session, where the facilitator touched on strategy and alignment of strategy to operational activities. I found this applicable as I could apply this to Dataprep Group and its subsidiaries, where the business alignment of delivery of products, solutions and services to existing and future clients, can prove to be effective. The training was exceptional as it provided an avenue in formulating winning strategies based on retrospective experiences as highlighted in case studies. Hwa Joon Seong, Project Manager5 days in Hong Kong and what a refreshing experience it was! The Leadership in Action training was a rich and valuable experience as not only did I learn the key areas of management but I had the opportunity to share and learn from the other participants, who came from a middle and senior management background. The training exposed me to various case studies and with a variety of interactive group discussions and presentations, I look forward to applying this to my work environment. We were fortunate to have professional and knowledgeable facilitators. Their training methods were very interactive and effective, based on real-life case studies and supporting video presentations. Participants were rotated daily into 5 groups for group discussion and presentations. The training covered core areas of vision, strategy, structure, human resources, teamwork, motivation, empowerment and leading change. I found that the vision factor was the most important element in bringing success to the organization. I strongly recommend this program to an associate. Khoo Hong Chuan - Practice Leader, Infra Managed ServicesA good experience as I embraced several case studies on various organization problems. The instructor was able to relate this to the common issues faced by companies and provided the relevant recommendation after we proposed the solutions. I was drawn to topics related to vision, values and strategies in culture transform. Most case study had a good practice or methodology attached in our notes. Steward Black is an experienced "guru" and since he understands our Asian culture, he was able to apply this to our environment, ethics and culture. I found all of the core areas important in shaping and preparing one for leadership. Tina Koh Ai Hoon, Company SecretaryMy recent trip to Hong Kong led me to a journey of knowledge, fulfillment and friendship. I gained valuable insights of how people behave, their social interaction methods and proper practices to survive in the corporate jungle environment. Apart from meeting and networking with an international vibrant team, we were put into several groups to undertake proactive tasks and assignments. Besides placing Dataprep on the map of recognition to my fellow international delegates, we were exposed to various traits of becoming an 'influencer' and roped in the skills of organizational performance which is part of a leadership practice. I am thankful that I am part of a company which believes in shaping and emulating growth to its future leaders. William Wong, EngineerI gained valuable insight and knowledge in adopting human practices and embracing different working styles. My involvement in the intensive training and interactive workshops revealed that I possess an "Analytical Style" working pattern. The interactive workshops also revealed that working in teams produce much talent, knowledge and creativity. This works best in producing solid solutions in an organisation. The seminar also touched on influencing people. I am of a firm believer that the influential factor is the driving force behind establishing viable relations with customers and business partners. Being more of a reserved person, I opened up a lot with my fellow participants as they were friendly and approachable. Never a book worm, I've now taken an interest in reading literature on management. I learnt that to succeed in a corporate outfit, one needs to find a striking balance between work and being happy. This will help in creating a positive and enjoyable working environment. "Trout on Strategy" SeminarChook Yuh Yng, Solution Sales ManagerI was given the opportunity to attend the "Trout on Strategy" Seminar by Jack Trout. Being the famous Guru of "Positioning" and one of the world's leading marketing strategist, I was excited at the prospect of learning from his insights. |
