DATAPREP SPORTS CLUBFOOTBALL FRIENDLY MATCH :DATAPREP FC versus OFFICIAL WONDERERS FC (Results 3 : 3 )
BUKIT JALIL, Saturday 15th March 2008 - For the first time in Dataprep’s history, Dataprep Sports Club organized a football try outs for the Dataprep Football Team cum friendly match at Padang C of Majlis Sukan Negara in Bukit Jalil. About 22 sports club members turned up to try out and showed their football skills. Most brandishing brand new boots as their old boots have decayed after having been hanged up to dry a long time ago but all were very enthusiastic to rekindle their love affair with this beautiful game. Wearing Dataprep’s brand new Umbro jerseys in their blue corporate colour and proudly displaying the Dataprep name, the team took to the field to play against the experienced players of Official Wonderers FC which consist of match officials from Planet Football Enteprise, who are private organizers of many football leagues in the Klang Valley. Dataprep opened the first 5 minutes of the first half with a goal by Ong Kee Hui, which the opponent soon after replied with a goal of their own taking away Dataprep’s advantage. Midway through the first half, the weather changed for the worse and rain started to suddenly pour heavily. The game started to change to a more scrappy game with heavy tackling on both sides. Unfortunately during this period, a sliding tackle by Mohd Faidzal on an opponent in our own box resulted in a yellow card for himself and a penalty kick to be given to the opponent. This penalty kick was easily converted into a goal by the Official Wonderers. However before the final whistle for the end of the first half, Mohd Shah Ismail from Logistic Department managed to score an equalizing goal making the score at the end of the first half 2:2. Dataprep started the second half with major changes to its line up, partially to give opportunity for the substitutes to show their skills. However before Dataprep’s new line up was able to settle down, Official Wonderors again shocked Dataprep’s goal net with another goal. With Dataprep trailing by one goal, the team started to reorganize themselves and pushed their attacks onwards whilst maintaining the defence’s composure. Dataprep’s continuous effort was later rewarded when M. Faisal Izhan scored the last goal of the game for Dataprep. Final score at the end of the second half is 3 : 3. A respectable result considering that this Dataprep team has never played together before this. Hopefully we can hope for better results in the next game but for now I would like to say kudos to all the players for their high commitment and team spirit. Written by : Adrin Adzuan Mohd Daud
